MAA Webinars : Estimating claim liabilities in emerging markets

The Macedonian Actuarial Association and Actuaires du Monde (in English: Actuaries of the World) arrange a 15-hour online course organized in several webinar sessions on “Estimating claim liabilities in the North Macedonian market’ for the members of the Macedonian Actuarial Association and interested persons from North Macedonia and countries facing comparable challenges.

The lecturer is Mrs Mary Frances Miller, CAS Fellow and also CAS Ambassador, member of the Strategic Planning Committee of the International Actuarial Association, past chair of the IAA Education Committee, member of the IAA Advice & Assistance, Membership and General Insurance Committee.

During the course, the lecturer will present the theoretical and practical considerations in the application of the deterministic chain-ladder methods. She will primarily concentrate on the selection the appropriate method, the evaluation of techniques, the data adequacy approach and present real-life examples of the methods’ applications in different situations tailored to the North Macedonian market.

The education material will be compliant with CAS exam 5 (Casualty Actuarial Society), with adaptations to the North Macedonian market.

The participants are expected to do reading and work on problems provided by the lecturer outside the class and sit a final test at the end of the course. All problems to be solved must be submitted at latest 24 hours before the next webinar. In case the MAA member cannot participate, he/she should inform at latest 24 hours before the webinar MAA and the project manager from Actuaires du Monde. Attendance lists of each webinar will be made by the project manager. The participant having participated to all webinars, submitted all problems and duly passed the final test will get the certification and 15 CPD points.

Every session takes place from 14:00 CET until 17:30 CET.
